A few weeks ago I sent out PhoGro’s December Update email. In that email I made a promise of sorts by telling you that I’d become more active in the community after the new year. Well, that time has come, so here’s the plan.
More Active on the Forum
The plan is to become much more active on the forum. The goal is to spend a few minutes every day responding to and commenting on threads in the Share Your Shots and Image Review forums as well as maintaining my contributions to the other more discussion focused forums. I still won’t be able to respond to every thread created, but I hope that this little bit of effort will help spark some life in the rest of the community.
Sharing My Photography
When I started PhoGro (back then it was known as Phogropathy) I did so by sharing photographs on a daily basis to the blog. In fact that’s all the site was, there was no community at all. This was just a place where I shared the photographs I took as I learned the craft.
Well, starting soon, I’m going back to my roots! I will again be sharing my photography regularly on the blog. However, there’s a bit of a twist this time. The photographs I share will all be taken with my iPhone. Yes, that’s right, the challenge for myself this year is to see how good I can get at iPhone photography. I have seen a ton of amazing photographs from iPhone photographers in the past year and the only way I’ll be able to develop this skill myself is to commit to it in full.
You can also follow along on Instagram as I’ll be sharing a number of the photographs I take, as well as some behind the scenes videos (in stories) there.
What About Tutorials?
I mentioned that I wanted to get back into writing tutorials, and even, resurrecting the YouTube channel. At this point in time I’m not ready to commit to either of these as they both will require more work and I have enough to focus on at the moment. I wouldn’t rule these out entirely, but I’d expect that they won’t make a return until the second half of 2018 – if at all.
On and finally, the monthly challenges will continue as always and I’m even going to participate in them with my own submissions from time to time. January’s challenge will be published later today or tomorrow!
Thanks for your support over the years and I hope that 2018 will be a great year for everyone here and for PhoGro as a community.
